AUCKLAND, NZ [11 DEC 2024] - Scott Technology (NZX:SCT) has secured its largest-ever appliance automation contract in China. Valued at CN¥85 million (approximately NZ$20 million), this contract with a prominent global Chinese whiteware manufacturer, involves several projects, including the automation of top and front loader production lines. “The appliance sector plays a key role in Scott’s global growth strategy and demonstrates our ability to deliver advanced automation solutions that meet the evolving needs of world-leading customers,” says Mike Christman, CEO of Scott Technology. “This achievement reflects the outstanding capabilities of our China team - their commitment to excellence and innovation drives our success in this important market.” The contract is with a long-standing Scott Technology customer, a partnership that has grown since 2000, during which Scott has delivered nine advanced production lines. Scott’s appliance business unit, led out of China and supported by Christchurch, specialises in designing and manufacturing automation systems tailored to the needs of leading global appliance manufacturers. These systems span a variety of applications, including production lines for cooking systems, laundry equipment, and refrigeration units. “The whiteware market in China is evolving rapidly, driven by growing consumer demand for high-quality, energy-efficient appliances,” says Cathy Zhang, Regional Director China, Scott Technology. “To meet these expectations, manufacturers globally are prioritising advanced automation to enhance efficiency and sustainability in production. This partnership demonstrates Scott Technology’s ability to stay ahead of these trends, delivering innovative solutions that align with the future of appliance manufacturing.” Cathy Zhang, Regional Director for Scott Technology in China, operates from Scott's facility in Qingdao, situated within the SCO Green Low Carbon Industrial Park in Jiaozhou. Officially opened in 2023, the facility boasts an 8,000-square-meter workshop equipped with comprehensive processing capabilities such as design, machining, quality inspection, and storage. This infrastructure has bolstered Scott’s capacity to deliver advanced automation solutions to its customers in China and beyond. ENDS
