COUNCIL APPOINTS DEPUTY CHAIR FOR CCHL

21/03/2023, 22:20 Coordinated Universal Time, ADMIN

Christchurch City Council has appointed Gill Cox as Deputy Chair of Christchurch City Holdings Limited (CCHL). The CCHL Group currently includes the city's major infrastructure companies, Christchurch Airport, Lyttelton Port Company (LPC), Orion Group, Enable, EcoCentral and Citycare Group. The Group employs more than 3,000 people across Canterbury and around New Zealand. In recommending Gill for the Board of CCHL the Appointments Committee said the combination of the experience of both Abby Foote (recently appointed Chair of CCHL) and Gill will provide strong, capable and connected leadership for CCHL. A professional director, Gill has a wealth of both strategic experience, and financial knowledge gained during 25 years as a Deloitte Partner, and a similar period as an independent director of public and private sector entities. Gill's current roles include Chair of Venues Otautahi, director of Te Kaha Project Delivery Ltd, Chair of Transwaste Canterbury Ltd, director of Waimakariri Irrigation Limited and a Trustee of Project Crimson Trust. Gill has also served as the Chair of both MainPower NZ Limited, and Ngai Tahu Farming Ltd and was a board member of NZTA (now Waka Kotahi). Gill holds a Master of Commerce (Hons), is a Life Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors. In 2010 Gill's service to business was recognised by the award of the New Zealand Order of Merit. CCHL Chair Abby Foote says she is looking forward to working with Gill on the range of opportunities CCHL has ahead of it. "I believe our skills sets and experience are extremely well aligned. Gill and I are both very much looking forward to working together and with the rest of the CCHL Board and team, during what we see as a pivotal time in CCHL's ongoing development." Gill is passionate about the Christchurch and Canterbury community, and is motivated by the challenge of providing far-reaching economic, environmental and social benefits through CCHL's role as kaitiakitanga of core infrastructure assets and other investments the Company may from time to time hold on behalf of the ratepayers of Christchurch. Gill will take up the role of Deputy Chair of the CCHL Board, effective immediately. -ends- For further information: Gerard Blank The Agency Communications Limited 03 349 5709 or 027 524 3629 gerard@theagencynz.co.nz End CA:00408767 For:CCH Type:ADMIN Time:2023-03-22 11:20:00
