Trustpower is pleased to announce that Catherine Thompson has been appointed to the role of General Manager Regulatory and Risk, reporting to Chief Executive David Prentice. Mr Prentice says the role is crucial to ensuring the company achieves the growth ambitions and stakeholder focus on which its exit from mass market retail was predicated. "We're delighted to be able to welcome a person of Catherine's calibre to our leadership team," says Prentice. "Catherine brings with her proven industry experience and a drive to see the energy sector realise its potential as a leader in New Zealand's decarbonisation efforts. "We're excited to be able to draw on Catherine's extensive industry-wide knowledge, relationships and experience as we gear up to focus on the opportunities that a decarbonised future presents." Before joining Trustpower, Ms Thompson held the role of Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and General Counsel at Contact Energy, where she led the communications, policy advocacy, legal and company secretarial functions. Ms Thompson will join Trustpower in early 2022 - concurrent with the expected completion of the sale of Trustpower's retail business to Mercury, at which time the company's retained generation fleet and commercial and industrial customer base will be renamed Manawa Energy.
