Freightways announces that its CFO, Mark Royle, will be stepping down next year, after almost 20 years in the role. Mark will be succeeded in the role by Stephan Deschamps around the middle of next year (with the exact date to be confirmed). Stephan will be based in Auckland alongside the Freightways Senior Leadership team. Stephan brings significant financial and commercial experience to the CFO role having worked previously at both Fonterra and Air New Zealand (where he was most recently the acting CFO). Mark Royle will continue on a 3-day per week basis to both transition-in and support Stephan. Freightways CEO, Mark Troughear, said "Mark will not be fully exiting the company but will be stepping back from a full-time role. Mark's knowledge and experience will remain available to Stephan and the Freightways team going forward, which we are delighted about. We are excited to welcome a person of Stephan's calibre to Freightways and look forward to his contribution to the business." Freightways' Chairman, Mark Verbiest, noted being able to transition the CFO role in the manner planned is an advantage, enabling Stephan into the business while having continuing access to Mark Royle's considerable experience. "The Board thanks Mark Royle for his very substantial contribution to Freightways over a long and successful career with the Company. Mark has always maintained the highest of standards, has been a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and was instrumental in developing Freightways entry into the Australian market." said Mark Verbiest.
