Besides the Market Participants who actively participate in NZX's markets there are several other groups who contribute services to the markets. These groups include:

Independent Software Vendors (ISVs)

NZX's open architecture gives Market Participants a wide range of front-end trading applications to choose from. The front-end trading applications designed by the various accredited Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and those produced in-house by member-developers provide tailored trading solutions depending on the focus of the Market Participant in question.

NZX is always keen to hear from ISVs or member developers who wish to write to the NZX Trading Engine via FIX and thereby increase the number of choices for Market Participants.

To view guidance notes for ISVs or Direct Market Access (DMA) see Regulation. To find out more about becoming an ISV, email

Accredited ISV Functionality Reports

NZX require that all ISV applications meet a set of minimum requirements. ISV Applications do not have to meet the entire set of functionality provided by the NZX Trader Workstations. The below reports outline the functionality supported by the accredited NZX ISV's.

Independent Software Vendors:

Back Office System Vendors

Back Office System vendors (BOS) develop custom interfaces to the New Zealand Clearing and Depository Limited’s (NZCDCL) settlement system (NZCDCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of NZX). This enables clearing and depository participants to interact with the settlement system more easily and quickly. Clearing and depository participants use the settlement system for enquiries, trade settlement, risk management, corporate action information, securities custody, and stock lending. Before entry to Market all back office system software goes through technical conformance to ensure integrity of the software.
